Are you a mindless climber?

Hey there,
We’ve all heard of mindless scrolling—getting sucked into social media and suddenly realizing you’ve wasted hours doing nothing.
Well, I’ve got a new term for something eerily similar that happens in corporate life:
Mindless Climbing.
What is it?
It’s when you pick a role or industry and keep climbing the ladder… without ever stopping to ask yourself:
Do I actually like this?
Does this still align with my goals?
I get it.
It’s easy to stay the course.
You’ve mastered the skillset. You know the players. You’re in the zone.
It’s comfortable.
But comfort and interest are not the same thing.
Years into my corporate journey—after becoming a Director and leading a team of 7—I realized I wasn’t where I wanted to be.
So I made a pivot.
I leaned into my curiosity and accepted a new challenge—one that stretched me and made me excited to grow again.
This email isn’t a call to quit your job.
It’s a reminder to pause and reflect.
Are you climbing the right ladder?
Or just climbing the one you’ve been on the longest?
Only you can answer that.
Talk soon,
Katie
