🏢 Corporate Hack of the Week: Build a Brag File
This hack has been a game-changer for me.
Every time I received a compliment, hit a milestone, completed a major project, or got positive feedback, I saved it in a folder on my computer called “The Brag File.”
Before you call me self-obsessed—hear me out…
This simple habit made updating my resume so much easier.
Whenever I applied for a new role, I’d open my brag file, pick the best accomplishments, and plug them into my resume—done.
Try it. Start today. Future you will thank you.

📃 Findings After Reviewing 50 Resumes
Last month, I opened a few resume review slots (for just $50), and let me tell you—I was shocked.
I found some major mistakes that were costing people job opportunities.
Here are the biggest ones:
🚨 1. Generic, Low-Effort Summaries 70% of the resumes I reviewed had the same cookie-cutter intro:
"I am a detail-oriented professional seeking growth…” bla bla bla…
Even if you think this sounds “corporate,” it won’t work.
🔹 What recruiters actually want: A clear, unique summary that highlights your strengths.
🚨 2. Buzzwords Without Proof
Are you guilty of using phrases like “team player” or “strong leadership skills”?
Listen… these are great qualities.
But hiring managers (like me) want proof.
🔹 Instead of saying “team player” → Say “Led a team of 5 to complete a $1M project 3 days ahead of schedule.”
Now that’s a strong, results-driven statement.
🚨 3. Poor Formatting
15-20 resumes I reviewed were poorly formatted—and trust me, looks matter.
Your resume doesn’t have to be fancy, but it must be: ✔ Clean✔ Well-structured✔ Easy to read
Not sure how to format your resume? Try this. |
🌟 Quote of the Week
I don’t know about you, but meaningful quotes inspire me.
Here’s one that stuck with me this week:
"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it." – Steve Jobs |
🥳 Free Resources of the Week
Oh, there’s more! 🎁
Each week, I’ll drop a free resource to help you level up your career.
This week’s freebie: The Ultimate Job Application Tracker 📊
I originally built this for my students, and it’s been a game-changer for keeping track of applications. If you're applying to multiple jobs, this tracker is a must-have.
